We could all use more Christmas spirit this year and I have feeling that some of us our getting an early start on our decorating and watching Hallmark movies. I have a gift guide here if you are also in the mood for some online shopping!! Here are the ones to get for you!
All of these books are in my Holiday Reading Section of The Brown Dog Bookshop.
The Christmas Pearl By: Dorothea Benton Frank
This is a modern classic of a Christmas story. Set in Charleston, our main character, Theodora, has had it with her family drama. She is old and tired and can’t seem to get everyone to get along. When her long dead housekeeper, Pearl, shows up at her door, she knows things are about to change. The Christmas Pearl is a heartwarming story we can all relate to as we prepare for Holiday family gatherings.
Shepherds Abiding By: Jan Karon
This is one of my all time favorites. This is part of Jan Karon’s Mitford series, but you don’t have to have read the series to get the holiday warm fuzzies with this one. Father Tim and the whole gang are eagerly anticipating the holiday season and all kind of small miracles are happening in Mitford.
Pretty Much any Christmas Book By: Mary Kay Andrews
These two books are as cute as the bottle brush trees on the covers. Andrews’ heroine Weezie is getting ready for Christmas with her Boyfriend, Best friend and family. With all kind of bumps along the way, you will breeze through these books. And if you have ever had a bad family dinner, the one that Weezie hosts will make you feel much better.
Two more of Mary Kay Andrews Christmas Books that aren’t part of the series, but are enchanting as well. The newest one, Bright Lights, Big Christmas, may be my favorite one yet!
A Redbird Christmas By: Fannie Flagg
This delightful tale, take an aging curmudgeon, Oswald, to a small town in the south to live out what he thinks are his last days. He meets up with a bird, some old ladies and crippled child and they all come together for a magical Christmas!
