Spread the love

June was a busy reading month as it is for most people. Time at the pool and on vacation leads to picking lighter books and quicker reads.

How to Seal Your Own Fate

Cozy – English Village – Dual Timeline

How to seal your own fate is the second book in the Castle Knoll Files series. The first How To Solve Your Own Murder introduces us to Annie Adams and her crime solving skills. In this second story, we find her once again diving in to the mysteries of her Great Aunt’s past in the small English village of Castle Knoll.

A great cozy for fans of British Crime Drama television (think Grantchester or Shakespeare and Hathaway). A fun summer read if you prefer yours less rom com and more mystery.

Beautiful Ugly

Twisty – Thriller – Dark and Stormy

I just finished this twisty thriller for my next book club meeting. Grady is a down on his luck writer, who can’t write in the year since his wife mysteriously disappeared. His agent sends him to a cabin set on a remote Scottish island to see if it will jump start his words.

The island is bizarre from the moment he gets there. For starters, it is inhabited only by women.

This book is as twisty as a pretzel and a fun, fun ride. It is dark and stormy in a good way and despite the gloom, will make for a great beach read.

The Stone Girl’s Story

Courage – Coming of Age – Magic

After reading The Spellshop and falling in love with Sarah Beth Durst’s writing, I am beginning the journey of becoming a completist.

She writes all kinds of books and this is one of her middle grade books. In it, Mayka is a girl who is made of stone in a world where master stone masons can carve special marks in to stone to give them life. With her father gone, the marks of her friends and family are starting to fade and with it their life. Mayke leaves her home for the first time to see if she can find someone to save them.

A triumphant story of a young girls courage and adventure. I would recommend this one to any young girls (no matter your age).
