Jane is a former child sitcom star trying to be taken seriously after being the joke of the campy “Pop Rocks” a show about teens in a band. It set her up financially but has made her hard to take seriously. Her big break comes and she tells a little white lie about how well she knows the most famous singer and can surely get him to write an original song for the sound track.
Jane travels to Long Island with a work rival (male and handsome, of course) to track down the singer, Jack and see if she can turn her lie into truth.
The setting is the initial reason that I chose to read the galley of this new novel, set to release on May 27th. I have been to Long Island in the fall but have always wanted to go in the Summer and see what it is like. It’s A Love Story did not disappoint in this way. The setting was perfect and almost like a character in the story.
In the vein of Nora Goes Off Script, this story features characters bound together by the craziness of working in Hollywood, who find themselves together in the world of ordinary people. It’s seems that the normalness is what causes all the romance.
This was a great read, but will be even better if you take it with you to the beach!
