The Ten Beach Road Series by Wendy Wax
A wacky group of women end up inextricably linked through a falling down beach mansion and a reality TV show. Throughout the series, they try to put their lives back together while they put falling apart beach properties back together.
Montauk by Nicola Harrison
Montauk in 1938 was a brand new playground for New York’s rich and political. Beatrice Bordeaux just wants to spend some vacation time with her husband. Montauk is a beautiful location for this somewhat dark story, the darkest on this list, but still will put you on location.
The Glass Ocean by Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig & Karen White
A quick change of pace, we leave the beach and go out on a cruise. In the Glass Ocean, we board the Lusitania and cruise the ocean. As with most historical fiction, we know where this is going, but it is a fun ride to get there as we follow three women on a cruise to their fate.
Sullivan’s Island by Dorothea Benton Frank
The first in the late, great Dorothea Benton Frank’s Lowcountry Tales series, Sullivan’s Island will introduce you to the charm, warmth and smell of the pluff mud in the Lowcoutry of South Carolina. You will want to return again and again to her stories and her beaches. Once you finish the last one, Queen Bee, you will mourn the great writer all over again. You can get the whole series here.
All of these books will take you to the beach now, or, if you head to the beach when they start to reopen you can take them with you. Be sure to pick them all up in THE BROWN DOG BOOKSHOP!
