This #TBRThursday, I am leaving my comfort zone with some books I might never have come across if they hadn’t shown up in my Facebook feed. So, Thanks Facebook Friends!, here are some out of the box reads for me that are coming up.
Ain’t Burned All the Bright
By: Jason Reynolds
This graphic novel, written for teens, is about what it meant to be a black family in America, during the pandemic. Recommended by my friend, Martha, this book is never something I would have found on my own. I hope it can bring me a little more understanding and openness to me as I work in my community.
Legends and Lattes
By: Travis Baldree
In this fantasy novel that is on so many lists of must-reads that I can’t even begin to name them all, an Orc (yes, I don’t even know what that is) is giving up her warring, violent ways to open a coffee shop. It has been billed as a cozy mystery set in a world of fantasy. I can’t wait to see if it lives up to all of its billing!
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking
By: T Kingfisher
This one has one a list of awards that is as long as a rolling pin. What happens when a wizard’d magic only works on baked goods? I guess I will find out in the YA wizard mystery.
