Last fall break, I was able to spend a few days at Universal Orlando to celebrate my birthday. Fall was a great time to go as there are several Halloween themed things to do, but the crowds were pretty low as well. Of course the Harry Potter series is the books we are going to use to go OFF THE PAGE!
Or if you haven’t started yet, get a box set in paperback or hardback! And you definitely to refresh on the movies as well.
A few tips on booking your trip (these are not budget ideas, these are for all out fun! There are a few ways to save some money, so why not!)
- Stay in a club level room at a Signature Collection Resort – this will get you breakfast and enough snacks throughout the day to count as a meal if you don’t want to brave the crowds and the reservation system for the restaurants. It will also get you a free Unlimited Express Pass, early admission hours and an easy commute to the park.
- I got my tickets on Undercover Tourist. It was a little bit of a discount, but shop around and see where the best ticket deals are. I also bought gift cards at CardCash so that helped with eating and souvenirs.
- Pack well. Below are a few things you will definitely want to have with you. (all of these links are affiliate links so I do make some money when you purchase.) Also, make sure you don’t forget the sunscreen and ponchos!
If you are a Harry Potter Fan or are hoping to turn someone into one (I promise, it works), you have to visit at least once. There are so many things you can experience straight out of the movies! Since you will be staying at a Signature Resort, you can get in the park an hour early. If it’s busy, I recommend you use that hour to hit the Leaky Cauldron for an English Breakfast. You can walk write in and even have pumpkin juice with your fry up. Then follow Harry’s day and explore Diagon Alley (maybe stopping for you first Butterbeer of the day…there will be many). Hop on the Hogwart’s Express (you will need Park to park tickets to ride this train) and spend the afternoon in Hogmeade. There are great rides on each side of the train, all levels of intensity. Check out a YouTube video if you want to plan ahead. There are many, but I really like this one.
