I chose Queen Bee for a book published in 2019 for the Brown Dog Reading Challenge because I always love everything written by Frank. Especially in the summer when I am headed out on vacation.
In Queen Bee, we return to one of Frank’s favorite locations, Sullivans Island. Our heroine, Holly, has stayed on the island to care for her mother, her bees and seek her dream job as a teacher at the local elementary school. She also cares for the widow next door and his two boys. When a new Stepmother enters the picture, things get ugly.
To add even more to the drama, Holly’s sister returns after learning her husband wants to be a Vegas drag queen.
As usual for Frank, the characters in the book are believably outrageous and the settings are beautifully written. Be sure to add this to your beach bag this summer.
